Mostly everyone has a sweet tooth when it comes to food and according to the Nordstrom cook book, "Desserts are typically the most talked about food at any gathering" (Clem & Northern 152). Desserts help bringing an excitement and anticipation to the table and something to look forward to at the end of the meal. From cookies to cakes, any type of dessert can help satisfy someone's stomach after a nice meal. So I am going to make Dried Cherry-Oatmeal Cookies.

To start of the baking process, I first need to mix all of the dry ingredients together in a large bowl such as flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and oats. Next, I need to mix all of the other ingredients in another bowl such as butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. According to the book, "Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition" (Clem & Northern). This is so that the eggs are mixed in very well before adding in another ingredient. Once those ingredients are thoroughly mixed, I combine the ingredients from the large bowl with the ingredients in the other bowl and stir to have a stiff dough while adding the dried cherries.

After all of the ingredients are mixed, I scoop balls of the dough onto baking sheets and cook them for 12 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Once the cookies are cooked to a light brown, let them cool for 2 minutes and then serve.

The cookies didn't turn out as amazing as I hoped to be because I don't think I mixed the ingredients together well enough because they tasted a bit dry. But they're still good and I learned that each and every step is important when it comes to cooking. Mess up one thing and your whole recipe is messed up. But if you make a mistake, do you give up or try again?

  1. Whenever I make a mistake in baking, I try and fix it most of the time, but it usually depends on what it is I'm baking. How many batches did you make? And did you notice they turned out bad as soon as they came out? because if you did, there may have been a way you could fix them!

    1. I made two batches, I could have made more but they didn't taste as good as I had hoped. But I didn't notice that they were off until I tried a cookie. The first batch I made I had to put them in for 5 more minutes because they weren't cooked all of the way. But I'll definitely try making this recipe again to try something different or see what went wrong.
