Origami Music Boxes

Today I will be showing you how to make origami boxes using music sheets. The music sheets will give it a pop of look instead of using plain paper. "Sixteen pictures may be just enough to teach you how to make this origami box. It's easy once you get started" (Wasinger, 57).

1. Fold one corner to the opposite edge of the paper. Then cut the excess.  

                                                                                                                          2. Unfold the paper to the  original                                                                                                                   position. Fold up-sided.

 

                            

3. Fold the inner sides.

                                                                                              4.Fold both flaps upward to the top corner.

                                                                                                  Do the same to the other side.

                                                                                               

5. At this point it should look like this.

                          

                                                                                          6. Fold the flaps on the sides to the center.                                                                                Repeat this step to the other side.

7. Fold the bottom triangles to the center and do so to the other side.

                                                                              8. Then crease all of the corners together like so.

9. Blow through the hole to inflate the box.

                                                                                                       10. And there you have it!

DIY: Magazine Ornaments

  Hello my friends! I am back again with another easy DIY!
"Recycle some of the old magazines and catalogs that clutter
your shelves into a one-of-a-kind, out-of-the-ordinary holiday ornament." (Wasinger 118) So for today, I will be showing you how to make these Magazine ornaments which you can use for decor.



MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED:

-Stapler
-Magazines
-Scissors
-Thread/Wire



STEP 1:

Cut about 10-20 medium sized circles. You can use any circular
shaped item as a template.

   

                                                                                                      

STEP 2:

After you have gathered all your circles, stack them in one single pile.
Fold the very first circle of the pile in half, then unfold. Position your
stapler in the middle of the fold. One staple in the middle should pin
all circles together.





STEP 3:

Fan out and fold each piece of layered paper as you go until you have
a symmetrical sphere. In order to hang this art up, you will need to poke
a hole through all the layers at the top of the stack and hang with thread or wire.

Reduce, Reuse, Recraft!

  Hi! My name is Sophia and my blog will be about crafting. I am here to show you the simple things you could do with just using the items laying around your house. Instead of recycling something you can make a use out of, why not recraft it?!

 "Don't add the container to the landfill; recycle it into a perky little container to make a delectable drawer divider." (Wasinger, 57) So for this first DIY, I've decided to make Drawer Dividers from the book Eco-Craft by Susan Wasinger. I thought this was an easy, simple, and fun way to spice up a plain old container that you could simply put your small needs in such as markers, crayons, tape... you name it! Now let's head on and get started!

Materials you will need:

-Plastic to-go containers

-White craft glue

-Newspaper (preferably black-and-white papers for best results)

-Scissors

-Tissue paper (optional)

STEP 1: Cut the plastic container in half. Trim off

the excess leaving the edges straight and clean.

STEP 2: Tear the newspaper into strips that are

about 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide.

STEP 3: Mix some craft glue with one fourth of water in

either a wide cup or container. (which ever allows you to dip paper strips) The glue mixture should look like whole milk in terms of thickness and color.

STEP 4: Simply dip a strip of paper into the mixture, making

sure you are squeezing the excess completely. Drape the

strips along the top and bottom of the plastic container in different directions until it is fully covered. Make sure you are pressing the strips down smooth and firmly. Let this completely dry. 

STEP 5: This step is optional if you would like to decorate

your drawer. Just rewind to step 4 again, but this time

using Tissue paper.

And there you have it! I had quite some fun dealing with this DIY. I have always loved arts and crafts since I was little.
