Hard-Work Is Respected

Hard-Work Is Respected
Bala, Edward-Jan
A crucial part of learning something new is hard work. As the great George Lois says Don't expect success to pop out of nowhere without any hard work (Lois, 90). When I decided to start learning Offstring Style I was not looking forward to the amount of hard work that was heading my way. That would mean starting all over again, even though it took me over three years just to master the easiest yo-yo style in the world. On the other hand, I could learn a style that I was always fascinated in. After I had chosen to learn Offstring style, I had learned that "work is worship" (Lois, 31). Working hard and doing great work is the same as breathing. Creating great work warms the heart and enriches the soul. Those of us Lucky enough to spend our days doing something we love, something that we're good at. If you do not work passionately at being the best in the world at what you do, you fail yourself,  your talent, and your family.

George Lois says that perfect is just subjective (Lois, 65). Nothing is perfect, Its either you are happy that you worked hard for something, or you wasted your precious time. When I started to learn Offstring Style I was constantly concerned with making things perfect, even though I was always stressing myself out for it not being it the way it was supposed to be. I worked hard and I am proud of all my achievements that had happened during the learning of Offstring Style.

What do you think of when you hear the word perfect?

  1. Hey Edward, great job on this post! I enjoyed reading on the positive attitude of this blog. I was wondering if you always have kept this mindset of being a hard worker, and if so who inspires you the most?

    1. Thank you Jordan for your comment. Yes, I always have the mindset of a hard worker.Keeping this mindset helps me focus on a ton of other things other than just the yo-yo. I use this mindset in school because I Believe that the harder you work for something, the better the outcome will be for working hard towards that something. Who motivates me to work hard is someone that better than me at the thing that I work hard on, this bothers me because I do not like the fact that some people are better than me at something that I am passionate towards. I always strive to be better than them because that is what motivates me and keeps me this way.

No one is perfect, but everyone strives to be. This mindset keeps many of us motivated in life. What motivates you in life?
