Bakin' Chocolate Chip Cookies

For this blog I decided to bake some classic chocolate chip cookies for my friends and family. Chocolate chip cookies may be one of the most served kind of cookies throughout The United States which is rightfully so. In the book Cookies Cookies Cookies By: Shelli McConnell on page 6 it teaches me how to make some of the most mouth watering batch of cookies.

Ingredients Needed:
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose fr
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 ounces of semisweet chocolate pieces

Recipe:

Step 1: In a large mixing bowl beat the shortening and margarine or butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed about 30 seconds or till softened.

Step 2: Add about half of the flour to the shortening mixture. Then add brown add brown sugar, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and baking soda. Beat till thoroughly combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in remaining flour. Stir in the chocolate pieces.

Step 3: Drop the dough by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove cookies and cool on wire rack.
Finished product of the cookies

Guess what? That's not all, through this exact recipe with just a couple changes your able to make macadamia but and white chocolate chunk cookies! "All you have to do is substitute chopped white pieces for the semisweet chocolate pieces and add 3 1/2 ounce of macadamia nuts" (McConnell 6). This recipe was easy, fun and such a great family bonding activity you can do in less then 30 minutes!

Do you like chocolate chip cookies?

  1. Those chocolate chip cookies look so good! Chocolate chip is definitely my favorite cookie out there, especially when it's straight out of the oven and it's still warm. I like how you included a substitution just in case people don't like chocolate chip or want a variety. IF you were to make this again, what would you try?
