My mom and I have always had a sweet tooth, especially for chocolate. In the book Cookies Cookies Cookies By: Shelli McConnell it has the perfect recipe for my mom and I. Brickle Bars are well known and "down-to-earth, yet heavenly!" (McConnell 20). If your also a chocolate lover this is perfect for you!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup margarine or butter
- 2 squares (2 ounces) unsweetened chocolate
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup almond brickle pieces
- 1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate pieces
Recipe
Step 1: In a medium saucepan melt the margarine or butter and chocolate over low heat. Stir frequently.
Step 2: Remove after melted and add sugar, eggs and vanilla. Using a wooden spoon, lightly beat just till combined (don't overbeat). Stir in flour.
Step 3: Spread batter into greased baking pan. Sprinkle with almond brickle pieces and chocolate pieces. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
These brickle bars turned out just how McConnell stated, "heavenly"! My family and I was in a much need of a little break from school and work so when I baked these we all were able to sit down and watch a movie, all a while enjoying these mouth watering bars.
Do you and your family bake together?
If not what do you and your family do for bonding?

These look absolutely delicious. Are you improving on your baking? Would you modify the recipe at all? Or would you prefer it to stay the same?
