The Patteren Starts off by saying "Ch 2 SC 6 in first Ch made," which in case you didn't know means to do chain 2,and then do 6 single crochets into the first chain. Though this is a good and solid method for starting something like this, I decided to use a different technique to start it known as a 'magic circle.'
A magic circle is made by making your yarn into a loop and then single crocheting the desired number of stitches into that loop.
You then pull on a tailing string on the loop to cinch it tight.
Following that, to make the head I had to increase the number of stitches in each circle until it was the size that the pattern called for. This was done by doing 2 single crochets in 1 stitch, followed by doing 1 single crochet in the next stitch. Then I had to do 2 single crochets in 1, and 1 single crochet in the next 2 stitches, and the pattern continued as such until you were left with the following result.
From that point on, you do the same number of stitches in each row to create a kind of 'cup like' shape that the book mentions.
The head's finished! But since the head and body are made in one piece for aesthetic pleasure, the piece sadly isn't ready to stuff yet.
