So I decided I would give myself a reason to write every day, because if I can't do it for a grade, I am never going to do it.
The first thing my book tells me, is to learn how to create a habit, which for me is hard. The only solid habit I've had all my life is procrastination... sadly.
I leaned there are 3 parts to a habit "1-The Trigger 2-The Routine 3-The Reward"
I just thought a habit was biting your finger nails. I see no reward in that, other than maybe a gross snack.
me getting frustrated and slightly giving up on finding all my habits |
The first activity I had to do was write out my daily routine, and than label them good or bad. Which seems pretty simplistic, but it took me two days to figure out and write down all my habits. I find having something to write about is quite a bit easier than just going with a blank brain.
Do you think creating habits is easy? Why or why not?
Fox, Chris. Lifelong Writing Habit: The Secret to Writing Every Day: Write Faster, Write Smarte. Vol. 2. N.p.: n.p., 2015. Write Faster, Write Smarter. Kindle.
I think that creating a habit really depends on what the habit is. Bad habits are a lot easier to start without even noticing, then you have to break the habit which is much harder. Starting helpful habits seems really difficult and good job taking the challenge on. Keep writing :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. Bad habits are something easy to start and hard to break. I realized that as I was writing these down. Good habits seem the hardest to keep because apparently we work against ourselves. I do my best to keep writing!
